The ideas are swirling. The quilt is a queen, and needs the batting, backing and binding. I've thought about picking it out and making 2 quilts instead of the huge queen, which will not fit on any bed we have right now.
Then, I have a stack of about 13 or 14 Belles ready to put on a fabric. I'd love to hear suggestions of colors to use with them, I plan on making another quilt. I'll make the pillows match whatever I do, since it will be in the girl's room.
The fabric is 50's and 60's, maybe 70's. It's been sitting for probably longer than 20 years. I love all the red, orange, pink and yellow in the vintage fabrics she chose. What fun!
It's so much fun to take old things and redo them or make them new. The girls of course love all the ladies with puffy dresses. We'll update when I have a project in swing with them!

I'm so grateful you posted these photos. I wanted to have a memory quilt made for my sister's baby girl, using fabrics from my dad's clothing. He was killed last year and won't be here to meet his new granddaughter when she is born in a few weeks. I haven't had a clue how to turn all those masculine fabrics into a feminine looking quilt, but this has sparked my thinking in a new way! Thank you! If it turns out, all the granddaughters may get one!

So sorry to hear about losing your dad. What a nice idea to make a quilt for the little one. I would love to see what it looks like when you are finished! If you want the pattern, I might be able to scan it and email it to you. My husband's grandmother drew it, so it was hers.

Perhaps some of those extra blocks could be made into a baby blanket for any future granddaughters. :)
So precious! I love the story tied to this quilt and pieces. I remember my grandmother making Dutch girl quilts. They look similar to these Belles but she had a watering can in her hand. I've looked for years for the pattern. This is the closest I've come to finding it. Could you make and post pattern pieces for this southern belle quilt?
